Pacific Northwest Road Trip ~ Mount Rainier National Park

January 25, 2012

During our Pacific Northwest trip we visited a half dozen national parks as well as countless National Monuments, State Parks, Historical sites, etc.  If there was one big surprise it was how absolutely fantastic Mount Rainier turned out to be.

We arrived just days after they opened the mountain roads and were greeted by the most spectacular site of our trip… blue skies and a clear view of the mountain herself.  From what we heard around the park people can spend a week and never see her in her entirety.  We originally planned our trip around hopes of spring wild flowers and reflective lakes, but because of a record snowfall in the spring we were engulfed by a winter wonderland, icy trails, and waterfalls from the first thaw of the delayed summer season.

I wouldn’t change a thing about our days on the mountain.  If you can find a way to visit please do! You won’t regret it.
